Green Lantern Shall Be Under-Rated No More!

Whenever comic books are mentioned, one instantly thinks of Batman, Superman, or Spiderman.
Green Lantern’s story seems to be trapped in the background, just itching to break through to the foreground, where he should be.
This post is me doing my part to make that happen.
People mistake Green Lantern for being just that; ‘THE’ Green Lantern. On the contrary, Hal Jordan is but one of 3600 Green Lanterns, all with their own unique and detailed story. The Green Lantern universe is massive with the most prominent Lanterns of the Core being Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner, John Stewart, Killowog and Sinestro. Although, Sinestro later becomes the founding member of the Sinestro corps: Lanterns of Fear but lately in the Green Lantern reboot he’s come back to the GL Core! (I’ll say no more). The Green Lantern’s entity is that of Will.
This isn’t a post about what Green Lantern is all about, so I strongly recommend you read the comic books or watch the movie which recently hit the big screen. There couldn’t be a more perfect time to get into his story as they’ve just rebooted the Green Lantern franchise, along with 51 other DC stories, as you may know. The New 52 (http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/the-new-52/) are fantastic and gives new readers a chance to find out what our famous heroes are all about, giving them a fresh start.
This is a big personal opinion which I am about to state and I know I will get some negative feedback from you hard-core Spiderman fans, but I feel Spiderman is not on top form any more. I don’t know whether or not it’s just me, but I feel the only thing Spiderman has got going for him now is the movies. The comic books on the other hand have become very, for lack of a better word, dull.
I assure you, I am a great fan of Spidey, and always have been. He is my favourite Marvel character save Wolverine, but I really haven’t been able to enjoy The Amazing Spiderman since the end of last year, the stories have been so dull. Though I do enjoy the Marvel Knights Spiderman Series, but that’s not a permanent story, is it?
I’ll always love Spiderman’s story, but I feel his time in the spotlight is, sadly, coming to a close and that Green Lantern should be up there with Bats and Superman now, making DC the official king of comic books, which I personally feel is already the case. My stack of Marvel comics is a good few feet shorter than my DC stack.
I hope I have done Green Lantern justice in this post and I hope you’ll all consider giving him a chance, I promise you won’t be disappointed!
